Two years ago, on this day, May 26, Real Madrid became European champions for a record 13th time, and made history by becoming the first side to win the coveted trophy for three times in a row in the Champions League era.
That day also marked the last time Cristiano Ronaldo made an appearance for Real Madrid, and two years on from that glorious occasions, things seem to be quite different. Cristiano currently plies his trade for Italian side Juventus after joining them in the summer of 2018. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have been on the lookout for a replacement for the Portuguese, and, going by numbers, it is safe to say they haven’t yet found one.
During his nine-year stint with Los Blancos, the former Manchester United star truly built a legacy for himself, broke records, and was the most decisive individual of a Real Madrid squad that dominated Europe for years.
The Juventus hitman still holds many Real Madrid records to his name, and here we take a look at five of those.
1. All-time Real Madrid top scorer
Ronaldo is head and shoulders above the rest of pack when it comes to goals scored for Los Blancos.
During his nine years at the club, the Portuguese skipper amassed a staggering 450 goals for Real Madrid, and is miles ahead of club legend Raul Gonzalez, who occupies the second spot with 323 goals. What is more impressive is that Ronaldo had a goal ratio of 1.03 at Madrid. What an absolute goal machine!
2. Most goals scored in a single La Liga season
The 2014-15 season saw Cristiano Ronaldo in a destructive mode as the Portuguese hammered in a whopping 48 goals in the Spanish top-flight. The Portuguese, however, could not aid his team to league glory as FC Barcelona edged them out by two points. He was equally impressive in other tournaments for Los Blancos, with his goals totalling at 61 that season.
3. Most goals scored in UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid
Ronaldo is well known for his exploits in the UEFA Champions League. The Portuguese has won the coveted trophy four times with Madrid and once with United. During his Madrid sojourn, the Portuguese scored 105 goals for the club in the Champions League. With 128 goals in total, Ronaldo is also the competition’s all-time top scorer.
4. Most hat-tricks in all competitions for Real Madrid
Ronaldo managed just one hat-trick during his illustrious United career, but it wasn’t the case at Madrid. The Portuguese turned into a ruthless, decisive goal-getter at the Spanish side, and bagged 44 hat-tricks for the club, with 34 of those coming in the La Liga.
5. Fastest to Score 4 goals in a single game
Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net on four occasions against Swedish side Malmo FF in the UEFA Champions League in 2016. The former Sporting Lisbon star did that in just 20 minutes, which is a club record. Ronaldo also holds the record for the fastest hat-trick. Against Granada in La Liga in 2015, he registered three goals in eight minutes. He shares this honour with Pepillo II, who also managed the feat against Real Sociedad in the Spanish top-flight in 1960.
