AC Milan Legend Inzaghi Slams Messi and Ronaldo for Making Him and Real Madrid Legend Raul 'Look Average'

Former Milan great Filippo Inzaghi has joked that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi make him angry since they diminish the value of his past achievements.

As a World Cup winner and star of Serie A for over a decade, the Italian can boast a pretty decent record of hitting the back of the net.

Before Messi and Ronaldo reached their peak levels in the Champions League, it was Inzaghi who scored 70 goals in 115 Champions League and Europa League clashes combined – just one goal fewer than Raul.

Ronaldo and Messi now sit first and second of the leaderboard, some distance clear of Real Madrid legend Raul and Inzaghi.

The 46-year-old joked La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'm a little upset with [Ronaldo] and Messi. Thanks to them, it looks like Raul and I scored so few goals in Europe." (h/t Marca)

The Spaniard's 77 strikes now puts him in a distance third to Ronaldo's 131 and Messi's 117.

Inzaghi, whose 70 goals include a brace to down Liverpool in the 2005 final, has even been knocked back into fifth by Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.

As for Real Madrid great Raul, he scored a total of 385 goals in 915 club games. He also won three Champions League honours. But Messi's numbers are much better.

Messi nears Pele's all-time record for the most goals scored for a single club. In total, the Argentinian has netted 627 goals in 718 matches for Barcelona, just 16 goals fewer than the Brazilian legend.
