Ogun suspends officials enforcing lockdown — after viral video of woman assaulted in LG office
Officials who were executing an arrest warrant that led to an assault on a woman at the Ifo local government office in the state of Ogun were suspended.

A Twitter user @TeeBaibie posted a video of local government officials trying to deflate the tires on Saturday in the Ojodu Abiodun area.

He said he explained that they didn't know they had passed through Ogun state, but officials refused to listen.

The geographical configuration of Lagos and Ogun is such that both states share very narrow borders which are sometimes not clearly indicated.

Although Lagos has relaxed the blockade every day of the week, the state of Ogun still applies the blockade on Saturdays and Sundays.

According to the woman, she went out with her husband to pick up some items for her daughter's next birthday when the agents arrested her.

However, things got worse when the woman who registered attempted to ask for the exact location of the local government office for a man, who was later identified by her as Mr. Peter.

Within seconds, as he followed him, during the recording, Mr. Peter spun around and raised his hands and legs in what appeared to be repeated slaps and a direct kick to the person behind the camera.

The Ogun state government responded to the video on Saturday, promising to investigate "unpleasant development and punish anyone guilty."

In a statement released Sunday, Fola Salami, transition president of the Ifo local government, said that the officer who attacked the woman has been arrested, while other agents involved in the accident have been suspended until further notice.

"The attention of the Office of the President of the Transition, Ifo local government, Ogun state, has been called to a viral video suggesting a case of assault on a woman in the local government's Ojodu Abiodun area," he said.

"It was a big blow to me when I saw the video of one of our officials enforcing the closing order with an inhuman attitude. His attitude does not describe human nature popularly preached by the local Ifo government.

“On this note, I will suspend all officials involved without pay until further notice.

"Rest assured that the public must be aware that all hands are on the deck on this issue and that anyone found guilty will be treated decisively.

"In the meantime, as at the time of this release, the main official involved has been arrested."
