Barcelona have not had the best of seasons by their high standards with the Catalan giants failing to defend their LaLiga title and what made it worse for them was that their 2-1 loss to Villarreal handed their rivals, Real Madrid their first league honour in three years.
The Catalan fans have not been to impressed by their players performances this campaign especially in the league and were given an opportunity by Spanish newspaper, Marca to rank the players based on their displays this season.
The site allows them to either up-vote or down-vote players depending on whether they think that individual should be higher or lower when compared to their team-mates.
As per the ratings one player has been ranked higher that club talisman, Lionel Messi and that has been goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and while that might have come a surprise to many, there is no doubt that the German shotstopper has been brilliant for them. Without him it is unlikely that Barcelona would be even competing for trophies this season.
The low rankings of some of stalwarts from the past decade in the form of Jordi Alba (15th), Luis Suarez (13th), Sergio Busquets (12th) and Gerard Pique (11th), is worrying for the club, raising questions on how long can they depend on the older players and that they might go the AC Milan way if they continue in this vein.
