PHOTOS: Three Women Who Married Ooni Of Ife

As the breakdown of the last marriage of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi to Olori Naomi Silekunola is announced, we take a look at his past marriages.

The first-class Osun monarch has been married three times and the marriages have failed.

Before his marriages, the Ooni was in a relationship with Omolara Olatunbosun. The relationship produced his 29-year-old daughter, Princess Adeola.

Afterwards, he married Adebukola Bombata in 2008.

This was seven years before he became the Ooni of Ife. The couple parted ways after he ascended the throne of his forebears.

In 2016, the Ooni went all the way to the Benin Kingdom to marry his second wife, Olori Wuraola, who is now known as Queen Zaynab-Otiti Obanor.

The marriage ended in 2017 with the reason for the divorce never stated.

In 2018,  the Ooni married Evangelist Naomi from Ondo State. Upon their marriage, she became known as Olori Silekunola. She announced her divorce from the Ooni on Thursday, stating that the public persona of the king was different from who he really was.

Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Divorces Ooni of Ife

Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Divorces Ooni of Ife

The wife of Ooni of Ife, Olori Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, has divorced her husband, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The monarch’s wife, in a post on her Instagram page, said she will no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”

"She explained that she tried to make her marriage work and smiled through the struggle, but realised that she had just one assignment which is her son.

“I bless the Lord almighty for His faithfulness in the last 3 years of my marriage. In life’s journey, it isn’t how far. Still, how well, indeed though satan should buffet if trials should come, I have this blessed assurance controlling all situations and saying to me it is well with my soul. Certainly, it is well. I made my journey into the ancient throne of Ife with faith in my heart and love for the keeper of it.

"Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue"

"I never approached him with any revelation of any sort, as many believed he contacted me first and made his proposal known several months later.

“The marriage was not an arranged one, as many have misconstrued. I never knew the prophetess said to have introduced me to him. Instead, he introduced her to me after I agreed to marry him. I was only being polite out of respect for him.

“I have never been pregnant all my life before Tadenikawo; my son is my first ever pregnancy with medical reports to back it up. The girl who is said to be my daughter is my niece

“I did my best to endure and make it work; many times, I smiled through the struggle, but I have finally realised I had just one assignment, my son, and when God is done, He is done.

“He chose Saul to be king, and when He was done, He told the prophet Samuel I have moved on. Religion was never an issue between us; please refer to my interview on News Central TV. Instead, His Majesty has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self.

“Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince,” she wrote

I won't reject calls to contest for the Presidency in 2023.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, says he will not reject any calls from any person or group of persons asking him to contest for the Presidency in 2023.

Tinubu stated this after a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Northern Alliance Committee in Abuja on Tuesday, December 14.

While refusing to officially declare his ambition, the 69-year-old politician said political consultations were ongoing.

“I am not going to turn them down but I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians. But the President is still in office.

I don’t want to distract him from all the challenges he might face today. So, don’t muddle the political waters. Consult, make our program known to the people later. And the intention is clear. So you can keep guessing,” Tinubu said

Though the former Lagos state governor is yet to declare his intention to contest any office in 2023, there have been rumors he wants to run for president.

Marriages conducted at Federal Marriage Registry Ikoyi, are invalid.

Marriages conducted at Federal Marriage Registry Ikoyi, are invalid.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, has ruled that it is unconstitutional for the federal government to conduct marriages.

The court, presided over by Justice D. E. Osiagor, held that only the local government marriage registries are empowered to do such by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

He submitted that the conduct of marriages and issuance of certificates are statutorily the job of the local governments as provided by the law.

The judge added that the acts of the federal government through the Ministry of Interior, operating marriage registries is beyond their powers and held that all marriages conducted by federal marriage registries or through their agents are illegal and invalid.

He consequently ordered the closure of all federal marriage registries opened by the ministry, including that of Ikoyi marriage registry, with immediate effect.

There has been a legal battle between some local government areas in Nigeria against the federal government over who has the power to operate marriage registries, conduct marriages and issue marriage certificates.

The LGAs had insisted that their power to register marriages was being taken over by the federal government through the Ministry of Interior.

This prompted the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State to go to court, where it sought an order to take over the popular Ikoyi Marriage Registry being operated by the Ministry of Interior, on the grounds that the federal government, through the ministry, had no business operating a marriage registry.

Why I had my daughter through surrogacy - Ini Edo

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, has confirmed the rumours that she recently welcomed her first child through surrogacy.

The actress finally opened up in an interview with Stella Korkus, which was published on Friday.

Ini Edo said she chose the path to fulfil her dream of becoming a mother.

She said, “Yes I do have a daughter and I had her through surrogacy. The eggs are mine and so genetically, she’s my blood.

“I chose this path to fulfil my dream of becoming a mother. I still have a good number of eggs frozen in case I decide to do surrogacy again or carry my baby myself.”

Ini Edo, however, debunked rumours that her child’s father was a married man, identified as Kome.

The actress said, “It is so sad that in Nigeria when a ‘single’ woman is friends with a guy, it must mean to people that they are dating.

"Kome has been my friend for years and that’s what it is, period. He is a responsible family man and doesn’t deserve to be dragged into my motherhood story.”

The actress added that she opted for a donor because of her and her baby’s peace of mind.

She said: “I opted for a donor for me and my baby’s peace of mind.

“Another major reason I opted for a donor is that it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums.

“For me, it’s the fear of what that would mean for the child. Ideally, it’s marriage then children but we are not living in an ideal world.”

Ini Edo also opened up about her past miscarriages.

She said: “I had a series of miscarriages in the past but that wasn’t my reason for going this route. I still hope to carry babies In my womb in the future, God willing.”
