Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I Thought That at 35 I Would be Fishing in Madeira'

Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 35 yesterday, gave an interview to Portugal's Channel 11 and discussed how his career has turned out so far and Juventus' Champions League hopes this season.

He revealed that he didn't imagine in his wildest dreams that he would go on to have such a successful career and that he thought instead that he would be fishing somewhere in his hometown of Madeira when he was 35 years old.

"When I was little I thought that at 35 I would be fishing in Madeira. But it was not [the fishing] cane which costs a lot, it was thread on the finger. It never crossed my mind [that I would get] to play where I played and win what I won," he said.

He then continued, speaking about Juventus' chances in the Champions League this season. Should the team manage to go past the next three knockout rounds, it would also be the sixth Champions League final of Ronaldo's career.

"Sixth Champions League final? It's possible. Playing for Juventus gives me the chance to win again. We know it is a difficult competition, which depends on many factors, but I think it is possible because we have a good team. We go step by step," he added.
