FLOOD SWEEPS 3 YEARS OLD GIRL AWAY IN ORILE-AGEGE LCDA, LAGOS.
Tragedy struck some residents of Fashola Street, Orile-Agege Lcda. at the early hours of yesterday when it was reported that flood had washed a toddler who resides at 38 Fashola Street away into a Public Canal.
The victim accidentally fell into an Open drainage system when a middle aged man, victims father was trying to evacuate her and her siblings from his room already taken over by flood.
According to an eye witness, the victim identified as Azeezat fell into an open drainage system right in front of her house and was swept away by the heavy flood as a result of todays early morning down pour.
Azeezat who could not withstand the strong wave of the water was easily washed away as her father and other residents made frantic efforts to rescue her, but all their efforts to rescue her yielded no result.
Eye witness who visited the scene of the accident observed huge crowd wearing long faces due to the unfortunate incident that occurred, while some other residents are still making frantic efforts to rescue her.
Some Residents who attempted rescuing the victim complained bitterly about the blocked drainage systems which also led to the over flow of Canals within the vicinity, thus posing serious threats to lives and properties within the Community.
A woman, who happened to be a neighbour to Azeezat Parents said, "Azeezat was a very smart and friendly girl. She is so close to me because you will always find her around me. It's indeed a painful exit to myself, her parents and people of this community".
Mr Olubode Ogunsanya who recounted the ordeals of landlords and residents of the area anytime it rained, said "the government need to come to the rescue of members of this Community due to the challenges they face whenever it rained heavily"
The Fence which serve as a security wall to my house also collapsed as a result of the flood caused by the heavy down pour at the wee hours of today.
"It is important to clear all Public drainage systems to allow easy flow of waste water, so as to forestall recurrence of such sad event.
He revealed to us that the director of #Lasepa was at the scene of the incident to join in the rescue efforts and also see to the flood challenges the people are facing"
We could not reach the parents of the victim, as neighbors revealed to us that they have joined other well meaning community members in search of Azeezat.
