OBASEKI, PDP CLOSE DEFENSE IN ALLEGED CERTIFICATE FORGERY SUIT

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has closed his defense in the case of alleged certificate forgery instituted by the All Progressives Congress APC and a party chieftain, Edobor Williams.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that Obaseki, the PDP and INEC, all defendants in the suit have closed their case.

The first defendant had closed its defense by presenting the third and final witness, Professor Eghosa Osaghae of the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Ibadan.

The certified true copy of the witness' Political Science certificate issued by the University of Ibadan in 1979 was admitted as exhibit by the court.

He related his experience trying to make a duplicate copy of his certificate on an A4 paper, where he said the portion of the document that had the date and registrar's signature was cut off in the process of photocopying.

During cross examination of the witness, he said with the constraints in photocopying, he will take the risk and tender an incomplete copy of his certificate than tendering nothing at all, bearing in mind that it is subject to verification.

With the case having reached its climax, Justice Ahmed Mohammed prevailed on the counsels of all parties in the suit to present their final addresses orally due time constraints, with the suit scheduled to lapse by Sunday 10th of January.
