The murder was admitted to by Chukwuemeka Nweke, who was born in Umuagu-Ozalla, Nkanu West Local Government Area. Nweke's confession revealed a troubling picture: he stated he was under the influence of a potent mixture of drugs, including Action Bitters, an alcoholic beverage with strong effects, methamphetamine (also known as "Mkpuru-mmiri"), and Indian hemp. He allegedly committed the unimaginable act of violence because of this deadly combination of alcohol and drugs.

However, the violence did not stop there. Nweke also acknowledged belonging to the infamous cult-like Vikings Confraternity. He also acknowledged his involvement in the 2022 murder of a member of the opposing cult in Jos, Plateau State, during a cult conflict. In addition to shocking the community, these revelations have brought to light the horrifying role that drug abuse and cult activity play in encouraging violent crimes.

The public has been reassured by the Enugu State Police Command that justice will be done. After investigations are finished, Chukwuemeka Nweke, who was found to be in possession of charms at the time of his arrest, will face the harshest legal consequences.
