Deontay Wilder sends ‘war’ message to Tyson Fury

Deontay Wilder’s video message to Tyson Fury has given the go-ahead to part three of the saga between the two professional boxers.

Tyson Fury knocked out Deontay Wilder in the seventh round to win the WBC Heavyweight championship title belt last weekend but it was the first time the American has been stopped in his 44-fight career.

However, Wilder blamed his assistant trainer for throwing in the towel in last week’s rematch.

He also blamed the heavy costume he wore for the ring walk and has decided to take up the 30-day clause to stage another rematch.

In his video calling out Fury on Saturday, Wilder said: “‘Hello my people, my Bomb Squad army, my Bomb Squad nation, to all my loved ones around the world, I just want to let you know I am here.

“Your king is here. And we ain’t going nowhere, for the war has just begun. I will rise again. I am strong. I am a king, you can’t take my pride.

“I am a warrior. I am a king that will never give up. I’m a king that will fight to the death.

“And if anyone doesn’t understand that, don’t understand what it is to go to war, don’t understand what it is to fight, we will rise again.

“We will regain the title.

“I will be back. We will hold our heads up high. Your king is in great spirit.

“We will rise like a phoenix from the ashes and regain the title. I’ll see you in a few months, for the war has just begun. All my love to all my people.”

Promoter Bob Arum has already indicated the clash will take place in Las Vegas in July.

But Fury’s promoter could still put off that third fight until after his man takes on Anthony Joshua in a battle of Britain.

Wenger claims Chelsea broke 'rule number one' against Bayern

Arsene Wenger thinks Chelsea broke “rule number one” after a brutal lesson from Bayern Munich pushed them to the brink of Champions League elimination.

Bundesliga champions Bayern took a giant step towards the quarter-finals of the competition with Tuesday’s resounding 3-0 success at Stamford Bridge.

A second-half brace from Serge Gnabry, followed by Robert Lewandowski’s 39th goal of the season, did the damage as Chelsea were comprehensively outclassed in the first leg of the last-16 tie.

“What has he [Lampard] learned… but he knew already, because you don’t lose five home games if your team is superior to every other team,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“But at that level, to give possession away you’re punished at some stage because they make you run too much, and you cannot survive for 90 minutes.

“In the Champions League, if you lost the midfield you’re in trouble, it’s rule number one.

“Because you play against good teams, if they can feed the strikers you, at some stage, will pay for it.

“And we’ve all gone through that but when the team is really superior that’s what happens.”

Governor Wike asks Adams Oshiomhole to resign for failing to stop Governor Diri’s inauguration

Governor Nyesom Wike has asked embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole to resign over his failure to stop swearing of Sen Douye Diri as Bayelsa state Governor.

Wike, addressing the media Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, in furtherance of his reactions to the political watershed in Bayelsa, also vowed that Oshiomhole and the APC would never succeed in wrestling political power from PDP in Rivers.

He said: “This is a country where you see people who do not have character. Today they sing a song, tomorrow they sing another. I think Oshiomhole as National Chairman of APC is not a character anybody should associate with.

“First, I have never been violent, will never be. However, when you see an armed robber come to your house, will you plead with the robber and say I beg you, leave my house. People think armed robbers are only those who cart away people’s money.

“The worst form of armed robbery is when you steal people’s mandate, like Oshiomhole is noted for. He thinks because he’s in the ruling party, he can use security to steal the mandate of the people. He was taught a lesson, a bitter lesson and I want to repeat, if you come to steal our mandate, the people will respond accordingly.

“They will oppose your stealing of their mandate and so Oshiomhole thinks because he is in the ruling party nobody should say anything or do anything. Stealing is not only when you go to rob a bank. The worse form of armed robbery is when you steal the mandate of the people”

Accusing Oshiomhole of always being driven by survival instincts, the Rivers Governor said he stopped attending the National Economic Council when Oshiomhole turned it into a forum for bashing former President Goodluck Jonathan after earlier going to praise Jonathan at Aso Villa for ensuring credible elections.

He said, “When Jonathan made sure elections were free and fair, Oshiomhole came to the Villa and thanked Jonathan. When Jonathan left office, one of the reason I don’t go to NEC meeting is because of Oshiomhole when he was yet a member.

“When Jonathan left, there was no day at the NEC meeting Oshiomhole will not bring Jonathan down. Meanwhile, that was the same man Oshiomhole went to praise for allowing one man one vote. The man left and Oshiomhole changed. That is his character.”

He further said, “Nigerians know one matter that led to the amendment of the electoral act where Governorship election has to go to the Supreme Court is because of Oshiomhole matter. So he cannot come out and say he was clean in terms of electoral process. That will be very bad.

“Oshiomhole said he fought godfatherism and the same time he wants to install himself as a godfather in Edo state. Why is he fighting Obaseki, because the man doesn’t take instruction from him. He preaches what he doesn’t practice. ”

Declaring total allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party, Wike said, “I will not be a member of their (APC) party. I have always been PDP and they know that. Oshiomhole knows his party didn’t even score up to 25 percent in my state. He cannot not tell me that. Oshiomhole has nothing to say about me. His party is probing him about the so called hospital he says he built. I am not the one.

“Shame should be on him that at the end of the day the PDP Candidate has been sworn in as governor of Bayelsa. You can’t come out and open your mouth and say it will never happen. Now it has happened. If I were him I will resign, leave. I am not his friend, so he cannot say my friend.

“All he is doing today is because the governors and some leaders of the party are saying this man cannot lead our party. Oshiomhole has failed. He is a man who opens his mouth anyhow. And this should be his last time, the moment he goes further he will know that Rivers is not what he thinks it is.”

On Oshiomhole’s parable that he (Oshiomhole) is an antelope, and Wike a tortoise, the Rivers Governor responded, “It’s unfortunate that Oshiomhole will use that word, a tortoise challenging an Antelope. How can Oshiomhole compare himself to me. I’m well read, a lawyer, life bencher. I have a first degree in Political Science, my second, c and I went to the Nigerian law School and I passed very well. Let Oshiomhole tell me which University he attended.

“Oshiomhole has the audacity to say nobody will be sworn in in Bayelsa, causing crisis in the country and nobody wants to call him to order but for people like us in Rivers. Because of people like Oshiomhole and his style of leadership, his party lost so many areas they ought not to have lost.

“What made them not to have candidates in Rivers and Zamfara, it’s because of Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole led to the problem they have in Bayelsa. Oshiomhole take from two sides. He is not a man of integrity and nobody should take him seriously.”

Lionel Messi Suffers Worst Goalscoring Form in Two Years

Lionel Messi's run of not scoring in a grand total of three league games means that he has officially hit his worst goalscoring run in two years.

The last time the Argentine magician went three games without troubling the scorers was back in February of 2018, according to AS.

However, it is worth mentioning that despite not scoring in the games against Valencia, Levante and Real Betis, Messi has laid on 5 assists for his teammates in that time, including a hattrick of assists in the team's 3-2 win Betis this past weekend.

Moreover, he has also attempted 22 shots in the 3 games, meaning that is it probably a matter of time before the net starts bulging for him once again.

However, in comparison, arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo has been on an absolute goalscoring tear for Juventus, having scored in each one of his last 10 league games en route to breaking a club record.

In fact, no striker in the top leagues in Europe has scored more since the beginning of December 2019 - when Messi capture his sixth Ballon 'Or award - than the Portuguese ace.

Both Ronaldo and Messi would need to be in top scoring form for the remainder of the season considering that Juventus and Barcelona are both currently trailing respective Serie A and La Liga leaders Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Aliko Dangote remains Africa’s wealthiest person for the ninth year

For the ninth year in a row, Aliko Dangote of Nigeria has been declared as the wealthiest person in Africa, with an estimated net worth of $10.1 billion.

In the latest ranking of the world’s billionaires by Forbes, the American global media company focusing on business, investment, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership, Dangote’s present worth is down from his estimate of $10.3 billion, a year ago, a development attributed to possibly a slightly lower stock price for his Dangote Cement flagship company.

Africa has 54 nations, but only eight countries have billionaires, according to Forbes, with South Africa and Egypt dominating not only the top 10 richest people in Africa list, but in the rankings overall with five billionaires each.

Nigeria comes second with four billionaires.

Nassef Sawiris of Egypt is the new number two richest, worth $8 billion, up from $6.3 billion last year.

Sawiris’ most valuable asset is a stake in shoemaker Adidas worth a recent $4 billion.

The increase in Adidas’ share price alone added nearly $1.5 billion to his fortune since January 2019.

He also owns a significant stake in fertilizer producer OCI N.V.

In 2019, Sawiris and US investor Wes Edens purchased the remaining stake they didn’t own in UK Premier League team, Aston Villa Football Club.

Number three on the list is Nigeria’s Mike Adenuga, worth $7.7 billion.

He owns mobile phone network, GloMobile, as well as oil producer Conoil and extensive real estate holdings.

His mobile phone network, Globacom, is the third largest operator in Nigeria, with 43 million subscribers, while his oil exploration outfit, Conoil Producing, operates six oil blocks in the Niger Delta.

One member of this elite group was worth 50 per cent less than a year ago.

Due primarily to the introduction of a new (weaker) currency in Zimbabwe, Strive Masiyiwa’s fortune fell to $1.1 billion from $2.3 billion in January 2019.

Zimbabwe, which has battled with hyperinflation, had been using the US dollar as its currency, but in 2019 it switched to its own currency, initially called the RTGS.

When converted into US dollars, the value of Masiyiwa’s stakes in Zimbabwe-listed mobile phone network, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, and Cassava Smartech fell dramatically in dollar terms.

Just two of the 20 billionaires are women: Isabel dos Santos, the eldest daughter of Angola’s former president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos; and Folorunsho Alakija of Nigeria.

Dos Santos’ fortune has declined to an estimated $2.2 billion, down $100 million from a year ago.

In late December, an Angola court issued an order to freeze the assets that Isabel dos Santos and her husband, Sindika Dokolo, own in Angola.

Those include her stake in telecom firm Unitel and stakes in two Angolan banks.

Forbes estimates those assets are worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

A statement issued by Isabel dos Santos said the judgment contained “a number of untruths” and that she would fight the decision “by using all the instruments of Angolan and international law at my disposal.”

Africa’s billionaires are as a group richer than a year ago.

Altogether, the continent’s 20 billionaires are worth a combined $73.4 billion, up from $68.7 billion a year ago.

Country rankings are unchanged from a year ago: Egypt and South Africa are tied with five billionaires each, followed by Nigeria with four and Morocco with two.

Forbes found one billionaire each from Algeria, Angola, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

That’s the same as last year, but a better representation than nine years ago, when only four African nations were home to 10-figure fortunes.

Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest man, founded and chairs Dangote Cement, the continent’s largest cement producer.

He owns nearly 85 per cent of publicly-traded Dangote Cement through a holding company.

Dangote Cement produces 45.6 million metric tonnes annually and has operations in 10 countries across Africa.

Dangote also owns stakes in publicly-traded salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies.

Dangote Refinery has been under construction for three years and is expected to be one of the world’s largest oil refineries once completed.

Explaining the methodology used in the ranking, Forbes Africa said: “Our list tracks the wealth of African billionaires who reside in Africa or have their primary businesses there, thus excluding Sudanese-born billionaire Mo Ibrahim, who is a UK citizen, and billionaire London resident Mohamed Al-Fayed, an Egyptian citizen. (Strive Masiyiwa, a citizen of Zimbabwe and a London resident, appears on the list due to his expansive telecom holdings in Africa; Isabel dos Santos, a citizen of Angola, has been living in Europe but retains assets in Angola — although they were recently frozen by a court in Angola.).

“We calculated net worths using stock prices and currency exchange rates from the close of business on Friday, January 10, 2020. To value privately held businesses, we couple estimates of revenues or profits with prevailing price-to-sales or price-to-earnings ratios for similar public companies. Some list members grow richer or poorer within weeks or days of our measurement date.”

Sharing the third position with Mike Adenuga with $7.7 billion worth is a South African, Nicky Oppenheimer.

Heir to his family’s fortune, Oppenheimer sold his 40 per cent stake in diamond firm DeBeers to mining group Anglo American for $5.1 billion in cash in 2012.

He was the third generation of his family to run DeBeers, and took the company private in 2001.

For 85 years until 2012, the Oppenheimer family occupied a controlling spot in the world’s diamond trade.

In 2014, Oppenheimer started Fireblade Aviation in Johannesburg, which operates chartered flights with its fleet of three planes and two helicopters.

He owns at least 720 square miles of conservation land across South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Johann Rupert is the fifth richest African.

He is the chairman of Swiss luxury goods firm Compagnie Financiere Richemont.

The company is best known for the brands Cartier and Montblanc.

It was formed in 1998 through a spinoff of assets owned by Rembrandt Group Limited (now Remgro Limited), which his father Anton formed in the 1940s.

He owns a 7 per cent stake in diversified investment firm Remgro, which he chairs, as well as 25 per cent of Reinet, an investment holding company based in Luxembourg.

In recent years, Rupert has been a vocal opponent of plans to allow fracking in the Karoo, a region of South Africa, where he owns land.

Rupert says his biggest regret was not buying half of Gucci when he had the opportunity to do so for just $175 million.

Nigeria’s Abdulsamad Rabiu is in number eight position among the top 20 African billionaires.

Rabiu is the founder of BUA Group, a Nigerian conglomerate active in cement production, sugar refining and real estate.

In early January 2020, Rabiu merged his privately-owned Obu Cement company with listed firm Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, which he controlled.

The combined firm, called BUA Cement Plc, trades on the Nigerian stock exchange.

Rabiu owns 98.5 per cent of it.

Isabel dos Santos is one of the two women in the top 20 African billionaires coming in 13th position with a net worth of $2.2 billion.

Aged 46, Dos Santos is the oldest daughter of Angola’s longtime former president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who stepped down in 2017.

Her father made her head of Sonangol, Angola’s state oil firm, in June 2016, but Angola’s new president removed her from that role in November 2017.

Forbes research found that while Isabel’s father was president, she ended up with stakes in Angolan companies, including banks and a telecom firm.

She owns shares of Portuguese companies, including telecom and cable TV firm Nos SGPS.

In the 19th position is Strive Masiyiwa with a net worth of $1.1 billion.

Masiyiwa, 58, overcame protracted government opposition to launch mobile phone network Econet Wireless Zimbabwe in his country of birth in 1998.

He owns just over 50 per cent of the publicly-traded Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, which is one part of his larger Econet Group.

Masiyiwa also owns just over half of private company Liquid Telecom, which provides fibre optic and satellite services to telecom firms across Africa.

His other assets include stakes in mobile phone networks in Burundi and Lesotho, and investments in fintech and power distribution firms in Africa.

Closing the 20 top African billionaire bracket is Nigeria’s Folorunso Alakija with a net worth of $1 billion. Aged 69, Alakija is vice chair of Famfa Oil, a Nigerian oil exploration company with a stake in Agbami Oilfield, a prolific offshore asset.

Famfa Oil’s partners include Chevron and Petrobras.

Alakija’s first company was a fashion label whose customers included the wife of former Nigerian President Ibrahim Babangida, Maryam.

The Nigerian Government awarded Alakija’s company an oil prospecting licence in 1993, which was later converted to an oil mining lease.

The Agbami field has been operating since 2008.

Famfa Oil says it will likely operate through 2024.

Forbes Africa journalist Peace Hyde says she first interviewed Dangote in Nigeria about three years ago for the popular Forbes Africa show: “My Worst Day with Peace Hyde,” airing on CNBC Africa, and has since had the privilege of meeting and speaking with him several times at both official and private functions.

Hyde said: “Dangote is someone who is extremely focused and driven with a bullish passion for Africa.

“For him, the goal is to dream as big and as grandiose as you can when it comes to the future of Africa because he believes, we have the human capital and resources to transform our continent.

“Everything is possible in his mind.

“His approach to business is testament to this fact.”

The largest employer in Africa’s most populous economy, Dangote is also seen as a stabilising force within the economies of several countries across the African continent.

His story, however, has not been without failure.

“Dangote has had his fair share of ups and downs. But his advice to young entrepreneurs is having the ability to delay gratification and work hard through tough times so they can enjoy the fruits of their labour at a later date,” says Hyde.

Through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which has the objective of reducing the number of lives lost to malnutrition and disease as well as combating Severe Acute Malnutrition in children, thousands of children have been saved from the brink of death.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I Thought That at 35 I Would be Fishing in Madeira'

Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 35 yesterday, gave an interview to Portugal's Channel 11 and discussed how his career has turned out so far and Juventus' Champions League hopes this season.

He revealed that he didn't imagine in his wildest dreams that he would go on to have such a successful career and that he thought instead that he would be fishing somewhere in his hometown of Madeira when he was 35 years old.

"When I was little I thought that at 35 I would be fishing in Madeira. But it was not [the fishing] cane which costs a lot, it was thread on the finger. It never crossed my mind [that I would get] to play where I played and win what I won," he said.

He then continued, speaking about Juventus' chances in the Champions League this season. Should the team manage to go past the next three knockout rounds, it would also be the sixth Champions League final of Ronaldo's career.

"Sixth Champions League final? It's possible. Playing for Juventus gives me the chance to win again. We know it is a difficult competition, which depends on many factors, but I think it is possible because we have a good team. We go step by step," he added.

President Buhari unveils new visa policy

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday  unveiled new visa policy with 79 visa classifications.

This comes amid news that five international airports with sufficient technology and devices that will make it impossible for persons with threats to pass through, have been approved as the only ports of entry where visa on arrival can be obtained.

The four functional airports for now are – Aminu Kano International Airport, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Port Harcourt Airport and Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

President Buhari said the Nigeria Visa Policy (NVP) 2020 is intended to attract innovation, specialized skills and knowledge from abroad to complement local capacity.

The document is a revised version.

The revised policy is a follow up to Buhari’s pronouncements in November 2019 that a new policy of visas on arrival would be granted to all African travellers starting from January 2020.

President Buhari said the review of the visa policy is intended to attract innovation, specialised skills and knowledge from abroad to complement local ones.

He added that the new policy is to also enhance business opportunities and achieve African integration through the visas on arrival for holders of passports of African Union countries.

There are 79 visa classifications in the revised policy, one of which is the Visa on arrival.

The new policy favours Africans with a valid passport who wish to come into the country for a short visit, for businesses and for tourism, as they are granted 90 days legal stay.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, explained that this will enhance visa policy by Nigeria, coming on the back of signing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, a treaty seeking to establish a continent-wide marketplace with increased trade and freer movement among its major economic powers.

Aregbesola stated that the visa programme is cardinal to the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria.

He said: “The new visa regime is expected to boost economic activities in the areas of tourism, aviation, entertainment, commerce and other areas where Nigeria has comparative advantage over other African countries. It also presents Nigeria with the opportunity to apply the principle of reciprocity with her visa policy in the nation’s bilateral and multilateral relations.

“The NVP 2020 introduces special visas for Nigerians in diaspora who either by birth, marriage or nationalization have assumed dual citizenship. Such category of Nigerians will now be able to make use of the passports of their adopted countries to visit Nigeria without the need for short stay visa.”

Speaking to State House Correspondents on why the classes of visas moved from six to 79, the minister said: “Why 79 classes of visa from six, the reason is simple, we want to be very detailed in the classification of people who we have to bring into our country so as to limit the chances of any one of them escaping our watch. It is to enhance security, that is the number one consideration.

“Secondly, it is to expand our economy. Let me give you an example, I won’t mention the name. A university wrote me as the minister to request for a specific number of visa allocation so as to enhance the number of students coming to that institution. Others would not even know how to handle such request. And for every foreign student you have, it’s a boost to our economy because they are not going to pay in naira, they will pay in foreign currency. And you know for every dollar you earn is a boost to Nigerian currency, economy and our reserve. So, we now have a specified visa for education.

“For religious tourism, we know and I won’t mention name, that they are people who come into this country purely for spiritual matters, we can’t deny it because it exists. There are people who come to simply go to OPA-Oranmiyan in Ife, Obara Gida Well in Daura, we want to be sure that such people are captured separately so as to monitor them and ensure that there is no risk attached and there is no threats to our security.

“I said earlier that there are three categories of visa, is either you are temporary visitor or a temporary resident or you are a permanent resident. That is the broadly three. But before now we broke those three to six but now looking at the vagaries of activities of our requirement, we split the six to 79 classes that will meet human endeavours and requirement in their visits.

“He (CG Immigration) mentioned something that they are people who just come here to buy both finished and raw materials like sesame seeds, for short visit you give them specific visa for such purpose. We can identify them on our system and through that we can monitor them.”

Speaking in concerns on the number of foreigners in the country, Aregbesola said: “On security and existence of non Nigerians around, let me remind you all that there is ECOWAS treaty which allows all ECOWAS citizens with valid travel documents to come to Nigeria and stay for short period of time. So to say we are not up to our responsibility in managing them might not be really honest. And don’t forget for the past six months, there was moratorium, an amnesty given to all foreigners to register themselves. The amnesty ended 12th of last month and we are still registering anyway, that is to tell you that for ECOWAS citizens, the treaty allows them to be here for a specified period of time.

“What we did not say is that the only port of entry where visa on arrival can be obtained is at the five airports. One is not functional, four are functional. For emphasis the airports that are functional are Aminu Kano International Airport, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Port Harcourt Airport, Murtala Mohammed International Airports because we have provided in those airports sufficient technology and devices that will make it impossible for whoever posses any threat to our nation from coming in.”

On his part, Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mohammed Babandelde, explained that all classes have procedures that will be strictly adhered to.

He said: “First it is important for you to know that there are procedures for entry and stay for different categories of persons and there are up to five for Nigeria.

“First class is ECOWAS citizens, ECOWAS citizens can enter without visa but there is a condition, they must enter through an approved and recognised ports of entry and with a travel document. On arrival, their document will be endorsed for 90 days, that is why we say they cannot enter in the night but from 6am to 6pm.

“Second category are African citizens with African passport, from any part of the world, you can travel to Abuja for example and you will be issued visa at the port of entry. We have explained that visa at point of entry is stronger than those you get at the missions because, we have only 18 biometric issuing centers in the world.

“The third category are frequent business travelers. When you log into our website, when you click on visa on arrival, you will see only one opportunity, African or business traveler. If you are a business traveler you will click and upload your letter of invitation, pay, complete the application online and submit. We will look at it and send you an approval email, on arrival at the airport you will be issued your visa.

“The fourth category are those who want to take residence either temporary or long term, you have to go to the embassy to get the visa.”

On the complains about the number of foreigners in Nigeria, Babandelde said: “I want you to consider the number of Nigerians outside also. Nigeria must export its labour in the next decade, we are going to be the most populous nation in the world. If you know the number of Nigerians in other ECOWAS countries and the business the control, you will not develop hatred for migrants. As long as they live legally and do their jobs correctly, we should consider there are Nigerians elsewhere, it is important for us to know this.”

Atiku urges Trump to reconsider visa ban on Nigerians

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, has begged US President Donald Trump to have a second look at the visa restriction he placed on Nigeria and five other countries.

He begged Trump to punish only ‘those in government who have failed in their duties”. That is, the President, his ministers, special advisers and members of his kitchen cabinet.

In the words of Atiku: “I call on President Trump to consider adopting measures that individually target those in government who have failed in their duties, rather than target the entire Nigerian population,” he said on Saturday.

The former VP’s plea did not come out of a vacuum. It was as a result of the new regime of visa restrictions that the US President, out of security concerns, announced on 30 January. It will affect Nigerians seeking permanent stay in the United States.

Atiku went further on his Facebook page: “While I understand the reasons given by the Trump administration (the failure of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration to share information and to address issues of terrorism), the ban does not take into account the pro-American sentiments of the Nigerian public and the solidarity previous Nigerian administrations have had with the United States. Nigeria was one of the few African nations that joined the US-led coalition during Operation Desert Storm between 1990-1991 when the United States championed the liberation of Kuwait.

“The Trump administration may also consider the pivotal role Nigeria, in partnership with the US, played in bringing peace to Liberia, an American sphere of influence, that now enjoys democracy because Nigerian blood and money paved the way for peace in that nation.

“Nigeria has also consistently voted in support of the United States and her allies at the United Nations and other multilateral world bodies.

“This is even as we are perhaps the biggest trading partner that the United States has in Africa, even where we had alternatives.

“Nigerians love the United States and have been a major force for the positive development of that great nation: 77% of all Black doctors in the United States are Nigerians. Nigerians are also the most educated immigrant community in America bar none.

“Surely, the US stands to benefit if it allows open borders with a country like Nigeria that is able to provide skilled, hardworking and dedicated personnel in a two-way traffic.

“The current Nigerian administration may have its deficiencies and deep faults, but the Nigeria people ought not to be punished for their inefficiencies.

“Once again, I call on President Trump to consider adopting measures that individually target those in government who have failed in their duties, rather than target the entire Nigerian population.”

'I have Played With Messi, Ronaldo, Zlatan & Rooney But Leo is the Best' - Angel Di Maria

Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Angel Di Maria has played with a number of great players throughout his storied career, but for the winger there is one player that stands above everyone else and that is his fellow countryman, Lionel Messi.

Di Maria has played for Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past where he shared the dressing room with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney while at France he played alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and now Neymar.

While admitting that it was a dream to put the shirt of such illustrious clubs, it is Messi who stands out despite the others too being world class in every respect.

"It was a dream to have the possibility to play with [Wayne] Rooney, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, Cristiano [Ronaldo], Leo [Messi]... they were players that I used on the PlayStation and I would never have imagined I'd get to play with them,” Di Maria told TyC Sports.

“I used to watch them and then to have the opportunity to play with them was really nice. Leo is the best of the four, Cristiano is a monster and Neymar is simply a joy for football. He's Brazilian and when he plays all he does is have fun. Ibra is crazy, a total character. On the pitch he might seem like a bad guy but he is awesome, a really good guy. I got along with him very well when he was here," he added.

“Rooney is a quiet guy. I never thought he would be as strong as he is. With all the great players I have played with, it's hard to choose. But if I had to pick one, it would be Leo.”

After an ill-fated spell at Old Trafford, the 31-year-old has settled in nicely at France, where he has so far made 208 appearances while scoring 79 goals.
